‘NoMoreClipboard.com’ Announces Collaboration with Google Health

Online PHR Will Integrate with Google Health to Exchange Health Information with Physicians

FORT WAYNE, Ind–(BUSINESS WIRE, March 06, 2008)NoMoreClipboard.com, an online personal health record system, has announced a collaboration with Google Health. Google Health, which was previewed to the healthcare IT community at the HIMSS08 Conference in Orlando last week, is currently being piloted at the Cleveland Clinic and is expected to be released to the public in the near future.

“As more and more consumer tools for managing health information become available, we believe that consumers will want to share health information electronically with physicians to better coordinate their care,” explains NoMoreClipboard.com CEO William Cast, M.D. “Unfortunately, nearly 80 percent of physicians do not have an electronic health record system,  and have no easy way to incorporate patient medical history or medical records from other providers into their practice workflow.”

By integrating on the Google Health platform, NoMoreClipboard.com can bridge this gap. Upon the user’s request on the Google side, NoMoreClipboard.com can print the medical records and health information from a Google Health account onto the specific forms used by the doctor’s office and deliver those forms in advance of a scheduled patient visit. When the patient arrives for a medical appointment, they avoid the frustration of filling out a clipboard and repeating all of their medical history.

NoMoreClipboard.com is also integrating its PHR with Google Health. “We have created a tool called the FroozHIE that displays similar information (medications, allergies, conditions, etc.) from both applications side-by-side,” according to NoMoreClipboard.com vice president Jeff Donnell. “The consumer can use the FroozHIE to quickly compare and reconcile information, or this can be done automatically.”

If a doctor is paper-based but wants to ensure that the patient is able to get copies of their medical records in an electronic format, NoMoreClipboard.com can provide a fax-back, bar-coded cover page that can be attached to documents. When documents are faxed, the bar code directs scanned images of the documents into the appropriate patient’s  NoMoreClipboard.com inbox. Because NoMoreClipboard.com is integrated with Google Health, consumers can download these scanned medical records into their Google Health account.

It has only been a little more than a week since the ’08 HIMSS meeting, when CEO Eric Schmidt announced Google’s entry into the PHR market. I confidently proclaim that this marked the salvation
of EHRs in dentistry, as well as in all of healthcare. This chunk of real-time history that I happily share with you will not reach the general public for months, if at all. We are alone in a frontier, friend,
where there is opportunity as well as risk. I sincerely hope you are enjoying this adventure as much as I am.

When I recently read the press release about NoMoreClipboard.com, it occurred to me that until Google, Microsoft and other consumer-dependent businesses entered the PHR market, there was no market. There was only a collection of lazy, but politically connected
entrepreneurs who base their sales on sure-fire mandates rather than pleasing finicky customers.

There is hope. I was recently heartened by a press release about NoMoreClipboard.com that I posted below. It announces the company’s collaboration with GoogleHealth to enable physicians
with paper records to download as well as upload their patients’ medical information. How long would it have taken BCBS to propose such a common sense solution that appeals to doctors? Never. Insurers will never accommodate doctors. Why should they? They spent millions of dollars to elect mandates.

NoMoreClipboard.com represents a consumer-driven company that enjoins providers on customers’ terms, not with tyranny. Consumers just don’t give a hoot about the NPI number.

Give it up, ADA. Come out with your hands up. I’ve got you surrounded. Darrell
